Winkler und Dünnebier Süwarenmaschinen GmbH (WDS) decided to use RFID as an innovative technology for its confectionery production. For this, all plastic molds (thousands depending on the factory) can be equipped with RFID data carriers. The Ethernet RFID readers are permanently installed in production lines and mobile acquisition systems in the warehouse and production area, tracking the progress of each mold through the central control station.
Within the production line, a database-oriented RFID system helps ensure the best mold and product tracking as well as process optimization and production statistics improvements. The generated information is synchronized with the server for comprehensive mold management and tracking.
The complete RFID system includes not only the industrial RFID reader on the production machine, but also the multiple RFID reader on the mold cleaning station and on the storage system. WDS can even retrofit third-party equipment with RFID readers if customer needs.
